Pastor's Message

The Christian Faith is about relationship.

In our baptism, we enter into life in relation to Jesus Christ.  We become one with the Savior who was born, as we are born; who lived in a human family as we do; who died a human death and then was raised to eternal life.  We gain that eternal gift because of our relationship to Christ.

When challenged to show the Father, God, to the disciples Jesus tells them “do you not know that I am in the Father and the Father in me.”  The relationship that we share with Jesus brings us into relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit is the presence of the Father and the Son in our lives, allowing us to grow ever closer to them both.  All of that is the theology that underlies our faith.  Ecclesiastes 4 tells us: ”Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Jesus told the disciples: “On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” (John 14:20)  That unity of life and faith is the reward of our faithfulness, and it takes it most complete form when the faithful share their lives in Jesus Christ.

Relationship in the church means that we come together to share in worship, in study, in mission, in labor, in fellowship and in prayer.  The human contact of believers is an important part of our life together.  Our recent Vacation Bible School and our upcoming Cook-off are opportunities for the members of West View to come together and be lifted up by their fellow believers.  Please take the chance to become connected with Christ and with each other.

Peace:  Myles
