It’s About Time

As I am writing this, I am watching snow falling outside my window.  Although the view suggests otherwise, the calendar promises that spring is coming.  The calendar also says that on February 22 it will be time for Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent; the 40 days leading up to Easter.  It is a traditional practice to give up something of importance for Lent.  This practice is meant to turn our attention to God. Perhaps a possession of importance that we all share is our time.  It is true that time is a precious commodity. This season consider giving up some of your time as an offering to God and as an opportunity for attention to your spiritual life.  You may offer your time to pray or meditate, to read scripture, to worship, to volunteer, or you may offer your time to participate in our All-Church Lenten Bible Study – 24 Hours That Changed the World.  However you choose to offer your time and attention to God; God delights in your presence!
